It's extremely efficient and does an outstanding job cleaning my two-bedroom apartment. It cleans the carpeted rooms incredibly quickly and the hardwood floors in the kitchen, living room, and hallways in a single sweep. Its suction motor of 8,000pa is quick at picking up dirt, crumbs, and pet hair. Carpet detection automatically boosts power when it detects rugs, and the dual side brush helps to remove debris from corners.
The mopping performance, while still impressive, isn't as good. The mop's rotating mechanism spins fast and makes use of 2.2lbs to clean dirt and stain. I've noticed that the front arms stick out a bit more than other robots, which can be helpful to maneuver around tight corners and on baseboards. The X1 Omni is the most expensive robotic vacuum that is able to mop in our review, however it has some distinct features that make it worth considering. The X1 Omni is notable for its massive dock that doubles as an charging base for the robot, a cleaning sink and two 4-liter water tanks. It also houses two bins: a 2.5-liter dustbin and the 2.5 dust bin that is 2.5 liters.
The base comes with a couple of buttons for control, which allow you to manually start cleaning tasks and then recall the robot or use the dock's auto-emptying procedure. Hold down two of the buttons to toggle the child lock that is a great touch for parents worried about children playing with the vacuum.
Similar to other robotic vacuums, the X1 Omni uses its camera to identify furniture and obstacles in its path and avoid them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system can map your home 10 times faster than laser detection systems and is four times more precise at finding objects.
Unfortunately this means that the X1 Omni will occasionally get caught up in an obstruction, such as the power cord that is draped across a rug that it becomes stuck and stops working until you manually free it. While it was not common however, it was a gruelling experience when it did happen particularly since the X1 Omni doesn't come with a "stuck" status alert on its application.
The X1 Omni isn't able to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming mode during the cleaning process. You'll need to manually switch between the two, which isn't a big deal except for the fact that the mopping pads haven't been cleaned and dried between uses, which can lead to mildew or mold.
The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who designed its sleek modern base and mopping pad. It's a huge difference from the utilitarian black bases of rivals such as Roborock or iRobot. And it's an excellent choice for an industry dominated by boxy units.
